Do you think you’re Change Resistant?

October 22, 2019

As a business instructor I often come across people who find themselves “stuck”, for whatever explanation, and resisting change with every fibre with their being. Even when they be aware that things have moved in and markets have improved, they stubbornly refuse to switch they way they get always done it.

One easy way to see should you be “change resistant” is to think about your ideas and feelings about many of the “new technology”, and new strategies to marketing businesses like Zynga, Twitter and LinkedIn. Have you ever embraced the changes or do you think you’re adopting a wait and pay attention to attitude?

So why accomplish we resist change? Why would we possibly not need to do something when we know it will make us more income if we did? Well We’ve identified 6 main main reasons why we sometimes get “stuck” inside same place.

1. Fear almost daily or money needed to generate changes. I often get told by clients actually ‘too busy’ to take the time to look at their organization and plan. Sometimes they feel actually just busy fighting fires from day by day and trying to receive the work out the entrance. Sometimes, especially in a new down economy, they just don’t want to think about things because the perception is that it should take money to fix the idea. This isn’t always the case – sometimes it is just being logical, delegating or setting up a simple checklist to create things easier. Often hardly any time invested now could make a huge difference in growing an enterprise.

2. They don’t really determine what changes to make. This may be a simple case of certainly not seeing the wood to the trees. Often if you come in business for any time period it is someone from over and above your business that contains the opportunity to “see” meaningful changes that you might make and suggestions which could move your business forward sometimes which has a quantum leap.

3. They aren’t aware about how many “sales” these are actually missing. Often we get used to a certain level involving turnover – that and then becomes our norm. We will adjust this figure determined by what we feel the economy has been doing or what we feel our nation possibly be earning. Before too long this becomes a “self-fulfilling prophesy” without having real surprises. In this state you happen to be no longer ‘hungry’ you happen to be no longer chasing and actively looking to identify new markets or business – you have stagnated and have no clue how many “sales” you’re likely to be missing.

4. They are technophobic and afraid in the learning curve. Technology has moved – we no longer contain the old cell phone (brick) we used to own decade ago. The same has happened with computers plus the internet and the huge explosion in the Web 2. 0 (social websites).

If you are older than 35 then this new technology will not be something you want for you to embrace – in fact it are going to be seen as a great big waste of your energy! The problem is that it certainly won’t go away. Marketing is going to switch whether we like it or less than the earlier you embrace that change better off your business will be ultimately.

5. Not knowing where do you start & it seems too much to handle and confusing. If it is any time period since you last took a good hard look at your small business, it can seem an incredibly daunting process. Where do you start – there can be so many areas to cope with and so many new things take into consideration or implement – which ones for anybody who is concentrating on? Which ones could make a real difference? Would it be going to be task for activities sake? Once these questions start rattling around in your head and you have zero clear answer, it is clear to understand how you can get “stuck” and select “just doing things how we have always accomplished them”. If you feel yourself beginning sit on the fence but not really moving forward – find some good help – get someone to brainstorm with, someone that may help you put a plan available – someone to ensure you get unstuck.

6. They are emotionally that come with what they have – in fact they initially spent time and money into it! This could be the logo for ones company that you daughter suitable for you, it could be your web site that cost you an arm and also a leg to produce decade ago. It could be a product or service that you invested heavily in several years ago and just haven’t had some time to market. It could just be your business that you’ve got spent 15 years expanding and time, technology and external market place forces (like Tiongkok) have impacted in hugely and you know you’ll want to move on.

This emotional attachment can often be the most difficult you to definitely get over. It is really difficult if you feel like you are “giving up” something is dear to your current heart or something you really feel perhaps you must try harder with! Once again – the most effective way to move forward is usually to get some independent advice after which it listen to it – regardless of whether they tell you something that you do not want to hear – and advance.

The bottom line can be that businesses cannot stay a similar for ever. The natural laws in the universe dictate that a thing is either growing along with expanding and multiplying or it can be dying. Businesses are likewise – either they are generally growing, looking forward, acquiring new markets, adopting brand-new techniques etc., or these are atrophying, getting smaller, losing ground to other individuals, in shrinking markets and beginning struggle.
